Project Background

Sedenak Tech Park, located in Johor Bahru, Johor, Malaysia, is an emerging high-tech industrial park in southern Malaysia. Leveraging its geographical proximity to Singapore, it is rapidly becoming a key data center hub in Southeast Asia. This data center, developed by AirTrunk, a leading data center operator in Asia-Pacific, provides large-scale infrastructure support for cloud computing, artificial intelligence, and digital services in both the Malaysian and Singapore markets.

Burkaf partnered with NTT Malaysia to provide cable trays, C-profiles (strut channels), and grounding wires for this project, supporting the large-scale electrical cabling requirements of the data center.


Challenges

  • Large-Scale Electrical Cabling: As a hyperscale data center, the facility features a massive number of server cabinets and an enormous total length of power and data cables, demanding high capacity, load-bearing capability, and cable organization efficiency from the support system.

  • High-Density Cable Management: Large-scale deployment results in dense cable routing paths, requiring rational layered design and cable management solutions to ensure neat, orderly wiring that is easy to maintain.

  • Electrical Safety and Grounding Protection: Hyperscale data centers have complex electrical systems where the integrity of grounding protection directly impacts equipment safety and business continuity, requiring complete system-wide grounding continuity.

  • Tropical Climate Conditions: Malaysia has a tropical rainforest climate with high temperatures and high humidity, presenting additional challenges for corrosion resistance of metal products.

  • Meeting NTT's High Standards: As a global-leading ICT service provider, NTT imposes strict requirements on supplier technical standards, quality management, and delivery systems.


Burkaf Solution

Burkaf provided a combined solution of cable trays, C-profiles, and grounding wires to fully address the high demands of hyperscale data center electrical cabling.

4. Orderly Management of High-Density Cables
Through rational tray layout and routing planning, the system achieves physical separation between power cables and data cables while maintaining neat, orderly wiring for easy future maintenance and expansion.

5. Excellent Corrosion Resistance
Products feature hot-dip galvanized finishing, providing outstanding corrosion resistance suitable for Malaysia's hot and humid tropical climate, ensuring long-term stable operation of the data center.

6. Meeting NTT's Strict Standards
Burkaf products successfully passed technical reviews and quality inspections by NTT Malaysia, with complete product documentation, test reports, and quality traceability documents provided, demonstrating the capability to serve a world-class ICT service provider.


Project Results

  • The Johor Bahru Sedenak Tech Park Data Center was successfully completed and put into operation in 2024.

  • The Burkaf cable tray system achieved neat cabling and efficient management of large-scale cables, the C-profile support system proved robust and reliable, and the grounding wire system ensured complete electrical protection.
