Project Name: Kuala Lumpur Data Center – Cyberjaya
Product Scope: Perforated Cable Trays (Ventilated Trays), Flexible Metal Conduits, C-Profiles (Strut Channels)
Project Status: Completed | Commissioning Year: 2024
Client/Owner: Bridge Data Centres
EPC Contractor/Procurement: CSF Group
Supplier: Burkaf

Project Background

Cyberjaya is Malaysia's "Silicon Valley," the nation's core hub for information technology and multimedia industries. The Kuala Lumpur Data Center, located in Cyberjaya and developed by Bridge Data Centres, is one of Malaysia's key digital hubs, providing critical infrastructure support for cloud computing, artificial intelligence, and digital services in the region.

Burkaf partnered with CSF Group to provide perforated cable trays, flexible metal conduits, and C-profiles (strut channels) for this project, meeting the stringent requirements of a Tier III data center for high reliability and high availability.

Challenges

  • Tier III Standard Requirements: Tier III data centers require concurrent maintainability, with electrical systems supporting online maintenance, demanding extremely high standards of cabling standardization and maintainability.

  • High-Density Cable Heat Dissipation: Data centers feature dense server cabinets with massive numbers of power and data cables generating significant heat during operation, requiring effective heat dissipation to prevent heat buildup.

  • Electromagnetic Interference (EMI) Control: Power cables must be effectively segregated from sensitive data cables to prevent EMI that could compromise data transmission quality.

  • Flexible End-Point Protection: Connections between cabinets and cable trays require flexible protection to accommodate equipment layout changes and maintenance needs.

  • Tropical Climate Conditions: Malaysia has a tropical rainforest climate with high temperatures and high humidity, presenting additional challenges for corrosion resistance of metal products.

Burkaf Solution

Burkaf provided a combined solution of perforated cable trays, flexible metal conduits, and C-profiles to fully address the high standards of Tier III data center electrical cabling.

How Burkaf's Advantages Were Demonstrated in This Project:

1. Perforated Cable Trays: Superior Cable Heat Dissipation
Perforated cable trays feature an open-bottom hole pattern, allowing heat generated by cables during operation to dissipate upward naturally, preventing heat buildup inside the tray. This characteristic is especially critical in high-density data centers—helping maintain cable operating temperatures within allowable limits, extending cable life, and avoiding added burden on the data center's cooling system.

2. Effective Segregation of Power and Data Cables
Through compartment dividers or independent tray layouts, the system achieves physical separation between power cables and data cables, reducing electromagnetic interference risks and ensuring stable, reliable data transmission, meeting Tier III standards for system availability.

3. Flexible Metal Conduits: Flexible End-Point Protection and EMI Shielding
Flexible metal conduits are used for connections between cabinets and cable trays, providing flexible protection that facilitates equipment maintenance and circuit modifications. Their metal construction also offers good mechanical protection and electromagnetic shielding properties, protecting data cables from external interference.

4. C-Profiles: A Flexible Support System
C-profiles, combined with matching connectors, enabled rapid construction of tray hangers, above-cabinet supports, and equipment brackets, adapting to the complex installation environment of data centers. The standardized design facilitates on-site cutting and adjustments, improving installation efficiency.

5. Meeting Tier III and CSF Group's High Standards
Burkaf products strictly complied with Tier III data center technical requirements, successfully passing technical reviews and quality inspections by CSF Group and Bridge Data Centres, with complete product documentation and test reports provided.

6. Excellent Corrosion Resistance
Products feature hot-dip galvanized finishing, providing outstanding corrosion resistance suitable for Malaysia's hot and humid tropical climate, ensuring long-term stable operation of the data center.

Project Results

  • The Kuala Lumpur Cyberjaya Data Center was successfully completed and put into operation in 2024, achieving Tier III certification standards.

  • The Burkaf perforated cable tray system achieved effective cable heat dissipation and neat wiring management. Flexible metal conduits provided flexible end-point protection and EMI shielding, and the C-profile support system proved robust and reliable.

  • Received recognition from CSF Group and client Bridge Data Centres for product quality and delivery performance.

Project Value

The successful implementation of this project demonstrates that Burkaf products meet the high standards of Tier III data centers. Perforated cable trays address both heat dissipation and cable management, flexible metal conduits provide end-point protection and electromagnetic shielding, and C-profiles enable adaptable support. Together, these three product categories form a complete cable management solution for high-tier data centers.
