Riyadh Business School is one of Saudi Arabia's leading business education institutions, dedicated to cultivating future business leaders and management professionals. To enhance the teaching environment and facility standards, the school launched an MEP & Infrastructure project, covering electrical, HVAC, and plumbing systems for new academic buildings.
Burkaf partnered with the EPC contractor Saudi Binladin Group (SBG) to provide perforated cable trays and C-profiles (strut channels) for the electrical cabling requirements of this modern educational building.
Electrical Requirements of Modern Educational Buildings: The business school features smart classrooms, computer labs, video conferencing systems, and other low-voltage intensive applications, requiring proper segregation from power cables.
Cable Heat Dissipation and Management: With significant cable loads in educational buildings, the cable tray design needed to address heat dissipation to prevent heat buildup that could affect cable lifespan.
Flexible Equipment Support Systems: MEP works involved installation of various systems including pipes, ducts, and cable trays, requiring adaptable support structures.
Working with a Top-Tier International EPC Contractor: Saudi Binladin Group is one of the most influential construction contractors in the Middle East, imposing strict requirements on supplier quality standards, delivery capability, and on-site service.
Burkaf supplied perforated cable trays and C-profile support systems to meet the complete requirements of the business school's MEP and infrastructure project.
1. Perforated Cable Trays: Balancing Heat Dissipation and Management
Perforated cable trays feature open-bottom hole patterns, allowing heat from cables to dissipate upward, preventing heat buildup that could cause cable insulation aging. The perforated design also supports cable tying with zip ties, keeping wiring neat and orderly for easy future maintenance and circuit additions.
2. Proper Segregation of Power and Low-Voltage Cables
Using compartment dividers or multiple independent trays, the system achieved effective segregation between power cables and low-voltage signal cables, reducing electromagnetic interference and ensuring stable operation of smart teaching equipment.
3. C-Profiles: A Flexible Multi-Purpose Support System
C-profiles, combined with matching connectors and threaded rods, enabled rapid construction of various support structures including cable tray hangers, pipe supports, and equipment brackets, adapting to the complex installation environment of MEP works. Hot-dip galvanized finishing provided excellent corrosion protection.
4. Meeting SBG's Stringent Standards
Burkaf products strictly complied with international standards, with complete technical documentation and test reports provided, successfully passing Saudi Binladin Group's material submittal and on-site inspection processes.
5. Reliable Delivery and On-Site Coordination
The project was successfully completed in 2024, with Burkaf achieving on-time delivery and consistent product quality, supporting the EPC contractor's construction schedule with no project delays caused by material issues.
The Riyadh Business School MEP & Infrastructure project was successfully completed and put into operation in 2024.
The Burkaf perforated cable tray system achieved effective cable heat dissipation and neat wiring management, while the C-profile support system proved flexible and reliable.
Received recognition from both Saudi Binladin Group and the client for the quality of electrical installation.
The successful implementation of this project demonstrates that Burkaf meets the high standards of Saudi Binladin Group, one of Saudi Arabia's top-tier EPC contractors. Perforated cable trays address both heat dissipation and wiring management needs, making them particularly suitable for modern educational buildings, while C-profile systems provide flexible support solutions for MEP applications.
