Project Type: Data Center Infrastructure – Cloud & Colocation Facility

Location: Minsk, Belarus

Commissioning Year: 2024

Status: Completed

Products Supplied: Perforated Cable Trays, C-Channels (Strut Channels), Grounding Wires

Project Overview

The Minsk Data Center is one of the largest cloud and colocation facilities in Belarus, playing a strategic role in the country's digital economy development. Owned and operated by beCloud, the national telecommunications and cloud services provider, this facility supports critical IT infrastructure for government agencies, financial institutions, and enterprise customers across Belarus.

Burkaf partnered with Nokia Solutions and Networks, the main contractor and procurement entity for the project, to supply perforated cable trays, C-channels, and grounding wires for this state-of-the-art data center.

Project Challenges

  • High-Density Cable Management
As a large-scale cloud and colocation facility, the data center requires dense cable layouts for power distribution, network connectivity, and telecommunications infrastructure. The cable management system must accommodate high volumes while maintaining organization and allowing for future customer additions.

  • Dual Regulatory Compliance
The project required products to meet both EU standards and Eurasian Economic Union (EAEU) technical regulations. This dual compliance demanded careful attention to certification, testing protocols, and documentation.

  • Cold Climate Considerations
Belarus experiences cold winters with temperatures dropping significantly below freezing. While the data center is indoor, materials and packaging had to withstand cold chain logistics during winter delivery and storage.

  • Tier III-Level Reliability
The facility was designed to meet Tier III standards for concurrent maintainability, requiring cable management that supports maintenance without disrupting operations.

  • International Procurement Coordination
With Nokia as the main contractor, the project required coordination across multiple supply chain tiers and strict adherence to international quality standards.

Solutions Provided by Burkaf

Perforated Cable Trays

Burkaf supplied perforated (ventilated) cable trays throughout the data center. The perforated design offers:

  • Excellent airflow for cable heat dissipation

  • Easy cable securing with zip ties or lashing

  • Flexibility for frequent cable additions and changes

  • Quick identification of cables for maintenance

C-Channel Support System

A complete C-channel (strut channel) system with fittings was provided for mounting cable trays and supporting electrical equipment. The C-channel system features:

  • Flexible installation adaptable to the data center layout

  • High load-bearing capacity for dense cable bundles

  • Compatibility with industry-standard accessories

  • Easy reconfiguration for future infrastructure changes

Grounding Wire System

Dedicated grounding wires and connectors were supplied to ensure:

  • Electrical continuity across all cable tray sections

  • Reliable connection to the data center's main grounding grid

  • Protection against static discharge and electrical faults

  • Compliance with Tier III safety requirements

Dual Standard Compliance

All products were certified to meet both:

  • EU CE marking requirements

  • EAEU technical regulations (EAC certification)

This dual compliance involved:

  • Testing per both European and Eurasian standards

  • Proper documentation and certification traceability

  • Packaging and labeling meeting both regulatory frameworks

Cold Climate Logistics

Products were prepared for winter delivery conditions, including:

  • Appropriate packaging for below-freezing temperatures

  • Material selection considering cold chain storage

  • Documentation to support customs clearance in EAEU region

Project Results

  • The Minsk Data Center was successfully completed and commissioned in 2024, becoming one of Belarus's largest cloud and colocation facilities.

  • Burkaf's perforated cable trays, C-channels, and grounding wires provided reliable cable management and electrical safety for the facility, earning recognition from Nokia and beCloud.

  • All products successfully met both EU and EAEU regulatory requirements, demonstrating Burkaf's ability to serve markets with dual compliance needs.

  • The project supports Belarus's digital economy development, enabling cloud services, data storage, and connectivity for government and enterprise customers.

Project Value

This successful project demonstrates Burkaf's capability in data center infrastructure for emerging European markets, working with global technology leaders like Nokia. The combination of perforated cable trays, C-channel support systems, and grounding wires provided a complete, maintainable, and regulation-compliant cable management solution. Burkaf's ability to navigate dual regulatory frameworks (EU and EAEU) added significant value for this project, ensuring smooth customs clearance and site acceptance.
